MISTAKES WHEN INSTALLING PAVERS
Installing pavers requires precision and attention to detail. So be careful that the company you hire has the expertise to do it. We have been called many times to solve problems that other companies created for their customers.
Here are the most common mistakes we’ve seen
Insufficient Base Preparation: Inadequate or improper preparation of the base can lead to a variety of problems, such as uneven settling, shifting, or cracking of the pavers. Ensure that the base is properly excavated, compacted, and has the appropriate thickness and composition for optimal stability.
Incorrect Slope and Drainage: Improper slope or inadequate drainage can result in water pooling on the surface of the pavers, leading to erosion, shifting, or the formation of puddles. Ensure that the surface is properly sloped away from structures and that appropriate drainage measures are in place.
Neglecting Edge Restraints: Edge restraints are essential for keeping the pavers in place and preventing them from spreading or shifting over time. Failing to install or secure edge restraints can result in a compromised installation.
Inaccurate Pattern Alignment: Careful attention should be given to aligning and maintaining consistent pattern lines. Inaccurate alignment or inconsistent spacing between pavers can be visually unappealing and disrupt the overall installation's stability.
Insufficient Joint Sand: Properly filled joints are crucial for the long-term stability of the paver surface. Insufficient joint sand or improper compaction can lead to the movement and shifting of the pavers. Ensure the joints are adequately filled with appropriate joint sand and compacted.
Poor Cutting Techniques: Cutting pavers to fit around edges, curves, or obstacles requires skill and precision. Improper cutting techniques can result in uneven edges, gaps, or misalignment. Use appropriate tools and techniques to ensure clean and accurate cuts.
Neglecting Maintenance: Once the pavers are installed, regular maintenance is essential for their longevity and appearance. Neglecting to clean, seal, or repair the paver surface can result in the growth of weeds, stains, and deterioration over time.
